Arm Lift
If your arms have begun to sag due to aging, weight loss or excessive sun exposure, an arm lift (brachioplasty), is an excellent option. While liposuction is very effective in reducing fat deposits, it does not tighten the improved area. Arm lifts are excellent for addressing this common issue.
The Procedure
While you are standing, Dr. Diehl will mark the areas of excess skin. After you are anesthetized, she will make an incision in the upper arm, extending from the elbow to the armpit.
After the excess fat and skin are removed, the incision is closed with sutures and covered with adhesive strips. Dr. Diehl will then apply elastic bandages to decrease swelling.
The Recovery
Elevation of the arms is key during the first weeks after the procedure. You will also need to wear a compression garment at all times (except when showering), for several weeks. Dr. Diehl also advises that you avoid strenuous workouts for at least 6 weeks.
As this is one of the more extensive procedures, you may experience tightness in the area for several months, and some pinkness around the scar for a year or longer.
