Ear Lobe Repair
Earlobes that have been damaged (stretched or torn) by piercing, wearing heavy earrings, or through a minor accident, can normally be repaired quickly in an outpatient procedure. The repairs are performed by either Dr. Diehl or our PA-C, Amanda.
We can “refresh” most earlobes in approximately 30 minutes by suturing tears or elongated holes. Local anesthesia is all that is needed for this routine procedure. Gauged earlobes can frequently also be repaired, but it is a more complex procedure.
You can expect mild pain for one-two days, and will need to keep the affected area clean to prevent infection. With normal healing, you can safely pierce the ear after three months.
